Education, paper trading and live trading with low shares should be used together to acheive success in the stock market.

What is Paper Trading?
-Trading stocks with a fake account or with fake money
-A way to practice before doing live trading

How to Train:
-Get as much education as possible
-Begin paper trading
-Do live trading on low shares in order to gain experience (if you have a stock worth /share, don’t trade more than 5 shares
-Example: as the stock market goes up, add 1 share (this will cost you commissions, but you will gain experience), and continue adding one share at a time as it goes up.
-Commissions can cost from – per trade. You will be losing money. This business requires your time and money in order to gain education.
-Put these numbers into an excel spreadsheet and multiply them based on the number of shares you want to trade in the future. See if you’re making a healthy profit.
-If you’re consistently successful and you’re trading properly, then begin live trading with larger shares.

Why Live Trading With Low Shares is Essential
-The problem with paper trading is the trade executions will fill automatically, but they might not in live trading: stocks might be more scarce, trade timing might be off, etc.
-Your mindset is changed in live trading (anxiety, fear, you’re using real money, etc)
-Many people are successful with paper trading, but not with live trading initially
-If you go right from paper trading to live trading with larger shares, you’re likely to lose a lot of money

How to swing trade stocks in the short term in the stock market. These are the strategies I use to short term trade stocks. It’s very high risk to trade stocks in the short term so only use 10% of your money to do this. I wanted to buy some Google stocks today but even though they beat their earnings, their stock is down 4%. Sometimes the market doesn’t do what’s expected, which is why this is risky. The first strategy is riding the wave of profits once a good earnings report comes out. I bought Netflix stocks after their good earnings report. The stock went up 7% in one day but I bought in too late. If I bought Netflix during the stock market after hours, I would get 5% at least. I sold Netflix stocks for a 1% profit since it started going down. The strategy for swing trading here is to buy after a good report comes out but only if the market likes the company, after prices are in the green for a little while. Do this with blue chip, safe stocks for a better return over time. Another strategy is to buy stocks on a dip. I bought Apple stock and Paypal stock on a 10% dip. Apple gave me 7% in returns over two weeks, and Paypal gave me 5.6% over a short time. Buy companies you’ll be comfortable holding for a long time, so it’s an always win situation even if they go down, just hold it until it’s profits. You want to buy a company with good value numbers, a good P/E Ratio, good P/S Ratio, and good P/B Ratio. Apple is a perfect company in terms of value with a nice price to earnings ratio, price to sales ratio, and price to book ratio. I would be comfortable holding on to Apple stocks even if they dropped further down on a dip. This is how I made money in the stock market with swing trading. 00 so far. Make sure to use only 10-20% of your portfolio in these higher risk swing trades.

Here are nine easy tips for new options traders to follow if they want to be successful.

1. Options are best used as risk-reducing investment tools, not instruments for gambling. (Read my article, why trade options?)

2. Manage risk carefully. Do not hold any position than can – in the worst case scenario – cost more than you are willing to lose.

3. Do not expect miracles. Do not buy options that are far out of the money just because they are ‘cheap.’ The chances of success are tiny. Not zero, just tiny.

4. Selling naked options is less risky than buying stock. But, like stock ownership, there is considerable downside risk. Exception: It’s reasonable to sell naked puts – but only if you want to buy the shares, if assigned an exercise notice.

5. Limit losses. The most effective way to accomplish that is to buy one option for every option you sell. That means selling spreads, rather than naked options.
