By reading the market what we are trying to do is ‘feel’ what the market is trying to tell us.
Is it trying to back the runner we are looking at, is it trying to lay it? What price is it willing to do either?
I’ve chosen this video because it was a tough trade but also because it’s a nice narration of my thoughts on the market.
People have often asked for this, something that isn’t straight forward. So here it is, you can listen to me dissecting how aggressive I should be on this trade. That’s what I tend to vary, how much I trade. If I’m not confident I play it safe and trim stakes, but if I’m confident I’ll let rip. This trade was tricky.
During the day I get a mixture of trades. If you tweet me I’ll tell you how each day feels. Some days it’s easy to read and others not so much. Some days it’s easy to spot which markets you should and shouldn’t be trading aggressively.
By avoiding or toning down your activity you will automatically minimise your losses by exposing yourself to less risk when the market isn’t showing you anything. Video Rating: / 5

Before the dawn of Internet technology, the words “stock trading” would instantly give you this image on your head: a chaotic scene with hundreds of people rushing, shouting, gesturing while talking on telephones and keeping eyes on the monitors.
The introduction of online trading platforms during the mid- to late-90s brought a dramatic change on how people go about this process. But while most people today are techno- and internet-savvy, still many of us are not aware of the basic rudiments of stock trading, let alone how to do it online.
If you have little or no clue about this process, let this beginner’s guide pave the way for you to understand how to stock trade via the online route.
Step 1 – Do your homework
Learn and understand the basics of stock trading by reading books and researching online. You do not need a PhD on this field, you only need to have a basic understanding of the process by which people buy and sell stocks, ability to navigate through websites and do extensive research, and capacity (and willingness) to deposit money into online accounts while knowing the pitfalls. Of course, you also have to know how to use an online trading platform as well as how to research companies listed with the stock exchange, how to determine your gains and losses, how to receive trade confirmations, and so on.
Step 2 – Look for a suitable online stock brokerage
Some online brokerage companies advertise themselves with having long and successful reputations. It would be good to go for companies who have experience. Those who has been in the business longer than the duration of online stock trading itself should have brick-and-mortar locations. This is a great idea if you feel uncomfortable holding your first transactions online as you can easily visit the company’s office and inquire about things such as commissions, fees, minimum deposits, features of trading platforms, contact information, and so on.
Step 3 – Open an account with an online stock brokerage company of your choice
Once you have decided which company you want to go with, open an account with them. You must know that in order to do so, you need to provide sensitive personal and financial information such as name, social security number and address, among many others. You will also need to sign contractual documents as well as make a minimum opening deposit, depending on your broker’s requirement. If you are uneasy going about this by your own, it would be a smart move to consult first with a lawyer.
Step 4 – Let the online stock trading begin!
Some steps to help you get started would be to familiarize yourself with the online trading platform. Get to know the menus and trading screens. Invest time in studying online tutorials to speed up the process of understanding how the platform works. Then once you are confident that you know your way around, buy your first stock. Look for a company that you want to invest in, input the amount of shares you intend to buy, and go for it!
Online stock trading has made the process easier and faster. But of course, as there are many frauds in the online world, it pays to be critical and discerning with your decisions. Never trust anyone until you have ensured that you are in safe hands.

Here are nine easy tips for new options traders to follow if they want to be successful.
1. Options are best used as risk-reducing investment tools, not instruments for gambling. (Read my article, why trade options?)
2. Manage risk carefully. Do not hold any position than can – in the worst case scenario – cost more than you are willing to lose.
3. Do not expect miracles. Do not buy options that are far out of the money just because they are ‘cheap.’ The chances of success are tiny. Not zero, just tiny.
4. Selling naked options is less risky than buying stock. But, like stock ownership, there is considerable downside risk. Exception: It’s reasonable to sell naked puts – but only if you want to buy the shares, if assigned an exercise notice.
5. Limit losses. The most effective way to accomplish that is to buy one option for every option you sell. That means selling spreads, rather than naked options.

Education, paper trading and live trading with low shares should be used together to acheive success in the stock market.
What is Paper Trading?
-Trading stocks with a fake account or with fake money
-A way to practice before doing live trading
How to Train:
-Get as much education as possible
-Begin paper trading
-Do live trading on low shares in order to gain experience (if you have a stock worth /share, don’t trade more than 5 shares
-Example: as the stock market goes up, add 1 share (this will cost you commissions, but you will gain experience), and continue adding one share at a time as it goes up.
-Commissions can cost from – per trade. You will be losing money. This business requires your time and money in order to gain education.
-Put these numbers into an excel spreadsheet and multiply them based on the number of shares you want to trade in the future. See if you’re making a healthy profit.
-If you’re consistently successful and you’re trading properly, then begin live trading with larger shares.
Why Live Trading With Low Shares is Essential
-The problem with paper trading is the trade executions will fill automatically, but they might not in live trading: stocks might be more scarce, trade timing might be off, etc.
-Your mindset is changed in live trading (anxiety, fear, you’re using real money, etc)
-Many people are successful with paper trading, but not with live trading initially
-If you go right from paper trading to live trading with larger shares, you’re likely to lose a lot of money
